Amid materialism, consumerism, and the endless flood of incoming information, artist Joonhong Min conveys the anxieties and fatigue of contemporary life through video, sound, and installation works. His practice captures glimpses of modern existence, where luxury-brand bags, chairs, coffee pots, teddy bears, and even the recent meme character Toong Toong Toong Sahur (an AI-generated object-fusion figure) appear side by side in peculiar juxtapositions. While these combinations provoke questions, they also bring about a strange sense of humor. At the same time, patterns and colors drawn from Korean tradition interlace with the repetitive forms of modern architecture, creating landscapes that feel both familiar and unfamiliar.

“In this uncanny landscape, overflowing with objects and images, where do we stand?”

Before the works, this question unfolds into what the artist calls a 'nonconformity report' on humanity—an alternative record in which we are all implicated. In other words, by suspending us momentarily from the blind flood of images and commodities that permeate daily life, Min offers viewers a chance to glimpse the beings that inhabit this planet today.
